On every plan, including the free one

Reads scans and photographs: PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, WEBP, GIF, Word, Excel and CSV. A phone photo of a paper form works; it does not have to be a fillable PDF.
Every question type: Text, long text, email, phone, date, number, checkbox, dropdown, multi-select, electronic signature and file upload. No limit on questions per form.
Questions that depend on answers: Show or hide a question based on what was answered earlier, so a long form asks each person only what applies to them.
Answers you can get back out: Every response as a spreadsheet, as individual PDFs, or as your original document with the answers filled in. No export fee.
Controls on who can answer: A password, a closing date, or a cap on how many responses a form takes — set per form, and separate from your plan's limits.
Part-finished answers survive: Someone can start on a phone at a counter and finish at a desk, without losing what they typed.
You choose how long answers are kept: Delete automatically after anything from a day to ten years, or keep until you remove them. The sweep runs nightly.
Built to WCAG 2.1 AA: Keyboard, screen reader and contrast, because a public body's form has to work for everybody who has to fill it in.

The things worth reading before you buy

What exactly is free?: One document, once — not one a month. Up to 5 pages of it, and the form it becomes collects 100 responses a month for as long as you want, with no account and no card. Questions that take a file upload need a paid plan; everything else — signatures, conditional questions, exports, your own retention period — works on the free one. If your document is longer than 5 pages we build the form from the pages that have blanks on them and tell you which ones we used.
What happens when I reach the response limit?: Collection carries on for a little while past the number, so a limit is something you notice on a page rather than something a member of the public discovers when their application will not submit. After that new responses pause until the month rolls over or you move up a plan. Everything already collected stays exactly where it is.
Do you ever delete my responses?: No. Not to enforce a limit, not to make room, not on any plan. You choose a retention period if you want one — 30 days through three years, or keep everything until you remove it yourself — and that setting is the only thing that ever deletes a response.
What if I need more forms than my plan allows?: Archive one. An archived form stops taking answers and says so to anyone who opens the link, keeps every response it has already collected, and comes back on the same link whenever you want it — at no cost, with no reconversion.
Is there a charge if I go over?: No. There are no overage charges anywhere in this product. A limit is a limit and it tells you it has been reached; it never quietly turns into an invoice.
How many documents can I convert?: As many as you like on any paid plan. Converting is the expensive part for us and we still do not meter it, because being charged per document is what makes people put off digitising the backlog — which is the whole job.
What happens at the end of the trial?: You drop to the free plan, not out of the door. If you were over the free limits by then you choose which form keeps collecting; the rest are archived, and nothing is deleted.
